CNN gets NBA China CEO Tim Chen’s Name Wrong

4 July 2009 One Comment

On May 23rd, it was first reported that Chinese investors led by Kenny Huang were interested in acquiring a minority stake in the Cleveland Cavaliers. Heck, even I reported on the Chinese interest in the Cleveland Cavaliers on the 24th of May.

CNN released a story about this yesterday… The funny thing is, you would have thought they would at least know the NBA China CEO’s name by now…

CNN sucks

“At the end of the day, the NBA is still a league, so at some point they’ll want to have a league here on the ground,” says Michael Sun, managing director of sports giant IMG. “This is something that I’m sure [NBA China CEO] Ted Chan thinks about every day.”

Ted Chan?? I don’t know how you can get this wrong..that badly. I mean both names are wrong, and its not exactly like Tim Chen is a difficult name to deal with. Perhaps they were mixing him up with Ted Chen of Channel 4 News.

Ted Chan, Ted Chen, Tim Chen

Ted Chan? Ted Chen? Tim Chen?

Poor Mr. Tim Chen, you would think being a former CEO of Microsoft China, Chairman and President of Motorola China, and current CEO of NBA China would at least get the worldwide leader in news to get your name right. Here’s hoping similar blunders aren’t made in the future.
